Rugile Barkauskaite

Hey all! I am Rugile, a 23 year old lithuanian, who started the journey in London 4 years ago. Even though it was a challenging decision, moving to London at the age of 18 has given me so many exciting experiences. Most of the time here I spent studying at the University of Greenwich and working part-time in the hospitality industry to support myself financially. During these years I learned so much about the diversity of London, developed different skills, created friendships, overcame some life challenges. Would never change a thing!

After I graduated from the university with a BSc degree in Criminology and Criminal Psychology, I joined a mentoring programme in which I mentored people who have faced difficult life situations, needed to be supported emotionally and helped to achieve their goals. It is very rewarding to know that you are able to make a positive impact on someone’s life and that is the reason why I joined the LNK team. Knife crimes in London are such a complex matter that young people are being drawn to, so to be a part of this team and be able to support, educate, and contribute to the prevention of youths getting involved in it is extremely fulfilling.

Regardless of my little life story, I am a very enthusiastic person who loves being surrounded by people, having a good laugh and spreading positivity around me.
